Wrexham have signed Steven Fletcher as Paul Mullin recovers from injury.

Steven Fletcher has joined Wrexham on loan until the end of the season.

The League Two club has been without Paul Mullin since he suffered a punctured lung in pre-season, ruling him out for the first few weeks of the season.

Mullin’s absence hasn’t stopped Wrexham from scoring, with Phil Parkinson’s side scoring a league-high 15 goals in their first six games. Indeed, Elliot Lee has stepped up this season, scoring five goals and adding an assist.

Nonetheless, despite Mullin’s impending comeback, Wrexham, who are famously backed by Hollywood’s Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney, clearly believe more is required in the striker area.

On Deadline Day, they purportedly received a club-record £450,000 bid.

Fletcher told the club website about his move to North Wales, “Hopefully I can bring a lot of experience.” “I’m 36 years old, fit, and ready to go. “One of the Club’s main selling factors was its ambition, and if I can help with that, that’s fantastic.
“I don’t think you can not see what has been happening at Wrexham – it’s been a great experience for the fans, players and owners so hopefully we can continue that.”

Furthermore, manager Parkinson stated, “I’m really pleased with the addition of Steve to the squad.” He missed football during pre-season, but he trained with the boys today, and it’s great to have him back.

Foster unexpectedly announced his retirement after Wrexham’s 5-5 draw at home to Swindon last month.Following the news, the 38-year-old addressed his decision in a brief statement on Wrexham’s website. However, in his podcast ‘Fozcast,’ the former Manchester United and England custodian has opened up about the true reasons for his decision, including the moment he knew he had to retire.

“The game against Swindon – the guy got it out of his feet and took a shot from about 22 yards,” he explained.

“He curved it into the corner. Normally, when he gets the ball out of his feet, I know he’s going to put it in my corner, to my right. I’m aware of it. It’s like a novel to me.

“However, I couldn’t read it like a book.” It’s insane, to be honest. I’m not sure how to describe it to you.

“I didn’t have that nous; it had faded a little.” I couldn’t read the fact that, I knew he was putting it in the corner, but I didn’t take the necessary precautions to ensure that I knew I could rescue it.
