Tony Mowbray has revealed that both Bradley Dack and Pierre Ekwah will miss the game against Sheffield Wednesday on Friday night.
Dack has been out with a minor hamstring injury since the previous international break, with the head coach hesitant to push him too hard and risk a setback that may keep him out even longer.
Meanwhile, Ekwah has been out since suffering a recurrence of a dead leg early in the 3-1 win over QPR.
Both could be available for Watford’s visit to the Stadium of Light on Wednesday night, depending on their improvement in the following days.
“I don’t think either of them are going to make it for tomorrow, though not because they’re miles away,” Mowbray stated.
“It’s just that we want to make sure they’re right so they don’t break down when they come back, especially with Bradley because we know hamstring injuries are dangerous and can reoccur.”
“With Pierre, we simply have to accept that he has a massive hematoma and a dead leg.” It was just unfortunate that he suffered that knock in the same spot where his movement has been restricted. “There’s a slim chance he’ll be free flowing by Friday night. What about next Wednesday? At this point, I’m not sure; it’s a day-to-day thing. It’s annoying because it has a knock-on effect; we have so many attacking midfielders and I’d want to be able to rotate, but we’re simply not quite there yet.”
After recovering from a recent sickness, Jewison Bennette could return to the squad tomorrow.
