Leicestershire’s most recent Leicester City newsOn Sunday, Enzo Maresca’s Championship leaders will face mid-table rivals.

Leicester City have been reminded of the threats that Blackburn Rovers may pose in Sunday’s noon kick-off at Ewood Park.

Enzo Maresca’s men will be looking for another win to extend their lead at the top of the Championship table, especially after losing to Liverpool in the League Cup on Wednesday, but the hosts will also be looking for points to improve on a sluggish start to the season, having won only three of their first eight games and losing four.

However, they had a lift on Wednesday night as they defeated Cardiff City to advance to the Carabao Cup last 16 round. Rovers won the third-round match 5-2, with teen loanee Andrew Moran scoring twice. The Irishman, on loan from Brighton, lit up the game, and Rovers boss Jon Dahl Tomasson lauded the “intelligent” 19-year-old midfielder afterward.

Moran’s impact began when he set up Arnor Sigurdsson to score for the second game in a row. He then scored himself shortly after halftime before winning a penalty that Sigurdsson finally missed. Moran hit a stunning fourth before setting up Dilan Markanday for the fifth.

“First and foremost, (Moran is) a fantastic player,” Blackburn manager Tomasson remarked. He can score goals and provide assists. He’s bright, has excellent ball-handling skills, and can carry the ball with one or two touches. He puts in a lot of effort for the squad. A youthful lad, young man, who is also highly motivated. He aspires to be better and is very ambitious. So we’re really happy with Andy.”

Moran has played 10 games for Rovers since joining from Brighton, including five in the Championship. He has also played in their last three games, losing to Sunderland and Ipswich and winning against Middlesbrough, and should expect to see action against the high-flying Foxes.

Meanwhile, Tomasson is expecting for a better performance from his team against Leicester. “Great result, great performance,” he added. Some of the offensive play we saw was outstanding and at a high level. It was almost certainly ten. However, we were upset with the two goals we gave up, which can be a mental setback.”
