Nicolas Jackson saved Chelsea’s Goal of the Month honour as they defeated Brighton to advance to the Carabao Cup’s next round.

However, while the Blues will be revelling in their much-needed victory, there is anxiety about another of their important players suffering an injury.

Chelsea’s £32 million summer signing scored the winning goal and his second of the season, just over a month after making his debut against Luton, as the Blues defeated the Seagulls 1-0.

Aside from assisting his team to their first win since August, Jackson also scored the senior team’s first goal this month, putting an end to fans’ fears about how September’s goal of the month award would function.

Mauricio Pochettino stated in his post-match interview, “Good response from the team, I was very pleased with the performance again and now happy for the victory and important to go through the competition and build our trust and momentum.” I’m hoping we can carry this momentum into the future.

#”[Jackson] Yes, very pleased; I believe it is important when the striker scores.” He needed to feel the net and it was extremely essential for him, therefore I was very happy for him.”

The Blues have already surpassed their performance in the competition last season, when they were knocked out in the third round by Manchester City, and will next face Championship side Blackburn at Stamford Bridge.

Despite having another cup tie to look forward to, Blues fans must also contend with the risk of missing one of their important players for their upcoming games – Ben Chilwell.

“Yes, we need to assess tomorrow, but I think it is hamstring,” Pochettino said after the game.

Chelsea will suffer a significant setback if Chilwell is injured.

Reece James, ChristopherR Nkunku, omeo Lavia, Wesley Fofana, Marcus Bettinelli, Carney Chukwuemeka, and Benoit Badiashile, as well as skipper Reece James, are all out.

The injury-plagued Blues will meet Fulham in a west London derby on Monday night, live on talkSPORT, as they look to build on their triumph on Wednesday.
