In a recent report, journalist Zeki Uzundurukan (via GS Gazete) claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are eyeing a move for Galatasaray defender Sacha Boey this summer. It has been mentioned that Spurs have set their sights on recruiting the French full-back in this ongoing transfer window.

Boey managed to impress with his performances on the right side of Galatasaray’s backline last season. The French talent made 33 appearances for the Turkish giants in the previous campaign, scoring one goal and grabbing four assists on all fronts.

The 22-year-old gave a good account of himself at both ends of the field as he averaged 2.8 tackles, 1.6 interceptions, 2.0 clearances, 0.8 shots, 1.0 key passes and 1.1 dribbles per 90 minutes in the Turkish Super Lig. He even distributed the ball relatively well after making 79% of his attempted passes in top-flight football (stats via whoscored).

His current contract at Galatasaray will expire in the summer of 2025. Thus, it won’t be easy for Spurs to get him on board in this off-season.

Is Boey The Right Choice For Tottenham Hotspur Boss Angelos Postecoglu?

Boey was a solid tackler of the ball and can make a few timely interceptions for his team on the defensive end of the field. He usually clears his lines when required and can even set up a few inviting chances for his teammates from the right flank. The French sensation can strike the ball with venom from long range and is a decent dribbler with the ball as well. He is primarily a right-back but can also fill in as a left-back if told to do so.

At 22, Boey has got a promising future ahead of him, so Tottenham will do well to lure him to North London this summer.

We can expect the Frenchman to bring more quality to Spurs boss Angelos Postecoglu’s defence. He would even help the North London club challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League next season.

All in all, Boey would be a great choice for Tottenham to consider in this ongoing transfer window as long as they can sign him for the right price. However, it remains to be seen whether he can cope with the physicality and high intensity of Premier League football.
