The Athletic reporter wrote on Monday (25 September) that the former Norwich City boss who had worked with Bryam during their time at Carrow Road was keen to sign the full-back as he believed a fit version would be as good as any left-back in the Championship.

Having been released by the Canaries at the end of last season partly because of his injury issues, the 30-year-old got through the entirety of Leeds United’s pre-season schedule without picking up any issues and scored his first goal of his second spell with the Whites in Saturday’s (23 September) 3-0 win over Watford.

With Junior Firpo still missing with injury, Byram has been a regular when fit at Elland Road this season, featuring in seven of the eight Championship games so far this season, operating from both right and left-back at times.

Trust Farke

There are few people at Elland Road currently who are doubting Farke’s credentials for any reason whatsoever and it truly feels as though the Leeds boss can do no wrong currently, with almost all his decisions working out perfectly.

Had Leeds not signed Byram this summer, they would have been incredibly short on options at full-back and would have likely struggled much more than they have done in the opening weeks of the campaign, but the former Norwich man has provided stability and assurance from the backline that cannot be underestimated.

Deciding to offer the former Norwich man a deal was by no means straightforward either, there were plenty of question marks over whether he was even fit enough to be a regular Championship performer, let alone a starter for a side-chasing promotion.

But like so many other decisions since he took over at Elland Road, Farke’s decision ultimately has turned out to be the correct one, even though it’s so early in the season. The board at Leeds United also deserve plenty of credit for backing their manager’s decisions in the transfer market as many other clubs wouldn’t have allowed their gaffer to take such a gamble on a player.

Hopefully, this is only the beginning of Byram’s success at Leeds United and he can continue to shine and improve as the season continues

Deciding to hand the former Norwich City man a contract was also not easy; there were doubts about whether he was fit enough to be a regular Championship performer, let alone a starter for a promotion-chasing club.

Farke’s judgment, like so many others since taking over at Elland Road, has shown to be correct, despite the fact that it is so early in the season. Leeds United’s board also deserves praise for supporting their manager’s transfer market moves, since many other clubs would not have let their manager to take such a risk on a player.

Hopefully, Byram’s success at Leeds United is just getting started, and he can continue to shine and grow as the season progresses.
