Langley Road, from St Albans Road to Molteno Close (just before Nascot Wood Junior School), will be shut from 8pm until 5am each night from tonight (September 18) until Saturday at 5am (September 23).

The old road surface will be renewed, ironwork covers and frames will be improved, and road markings will be refreshed and reinstalled. Road studs, gullies, and loops will also be worked on.

A diversion route has been created which involves using Hempstead Road instead.

Motorists who park in the road and plan to use their cars overnight have been advised that they will need to move any vehicles outside the construction area at least one hour before work is set to begin.

In a letter to residents, Hertfordshire County Council added: “We are unable to provide information of which part of the road will have access and when.

Upon accepting the gig, Deeney said: “It’s really exciting to be here. I came to the game on Tuesday and got a real sense of what the club is all about.

“I’ve always kept an eye on Forest Green anyway and have great admiration for the Chairman and what the club stands for.”

“It’s about the next 10 years, not the next 10 months. This is the start of a new journey and I’m really excited.”

Deeney last played in League Two for Walsall in the 2006-07 season.

He went on to play 134 times for the Saddlers, scoring 27 times.

The bustling forward moved to Watford in 2010, going on to net 140 goals across 11 years with the Hornets

In 2021 he switched to his boyhood club Birmingham City, playing two seasons at St Andrew’s before being released.

In addition to his playing roles, Deeney has been obtaining his Uefa A-License coaching badge
