After the Nigerian hobbled off in pain last night, West Brom manager Carlos Corberan spoke briefly about Josh Maja’s potential ankle injury.

Super Eagles attacker Josh Maja was substituted barely minutes after coming on in West Brom’s goalless draw against Bristol City in an EFL Championship game on Saturday, according to Soccernet.ng.
West Brom manager Carlos Coberan introduced the Nigerian in the 66th minute in an attempt to shift the game in his team’s favor, as they were desperate for a goal to take the lead.

He was helped off the field in the last minutes of the game after colliding with Kal Naismith. Naismith’s challenge on Maja may have resulted in a penalty, changing the outcome of the game, but it was waved off by the referee, leaving Maja hurt.

Corberan stated after the game that the squad will analyze the 24-year-old’s condition in the following days, which appeared to be an ankle issue for the former Bordeaux man.

“Unfortunately, we need to evaluate him [Maja] because he was tackled in the box,” Corberan explained.

Maja, who plays alongside fellow Nigerian Semi Ajayi, joined West Brom on a permanent basis in the summer after his contract with Ligue 2 side Bordeaux expired in June.West Brom close in on striker Josh Maja free transfer | Express & Star
