Everton and Luton are among the clubs to have spoken to free agent Ashley Young.
The 37-year-old left Aston Villa upon the expiration of his contract this summer.
Young brings a wealth of experience, having played in the Premier League for 17 seasons.
The former England defender returned to England’s top flight in 2021 after a two-year stint at Inter Milan and still managed to play consistent football.
With title-winning experience, adding Young to their ranks for free would be a considerable coup, especially for Luton as they begin their first-ever Premier League campaign.
Meanwhile, Everton will be looking to build on a disappointing couple of seasons. The Toffees only avoided relegation on the final day of last season thanks to a 1-0 victory over Bournemouth.
After breaking through as a youngster with Watford, Young went on to spend five highly-successful seasons with Villa during his first stint at the club.
He earned a big money move to Manchester United in 2011 and played at Old Trafford for nine seasons.
While with the Red Devils, Young won the Premier League, FA Cup, EFL Cup, Community Shield and Europa League.

Elsewhere, Everton keeper Joao Virginia has signed a new two-year deal. The Portuguese custodian, 23, joined the club in 2019 and has since spent time on loan with Reading, Sporting Lisbon and Cambuur.
