In order to complete their rosters, teams are allegedly interested in signing free agent Lamar Stevens. The Boston Celtics, Houston Rockets, Minnesota Timberwolves, and Miami Heat are among the teams that Stevens would be interested in, according to Michael Scotto of HoopsHype.
Four teams have been identified as potential suitors for Lamar Stevens, a free agent.
On July 17, Stevens went on the open market when the San Antonio Spurs cut him loose. In a three-team trade that transferred Max Strus from Miami to Cleveland, San Antonio received the versatile forward as well as Cedi Osman.
Stevens is a slasher with a great rim finishing ability. Although his defense is what the 26-year-old is best renowned for. Last season, he averaged 5.3 points and a career-high 3.3 rebounds. Stevens also achieved a personal best by starting 25 of his 63 games and shooting 31.6% from beyond the arc.
The 4 Allegedly Interested Parties
Stevens participated in a workout with the Celtics last month along with other veterans. The Celtics signed Svi Mykhailiuk to a one-year contract, but they didn’t sign any of the other guys. On his $2.3 million contract, Mykhailuk received a partial guarantee of $200,000.
With the arrival of Mykhailiuk, Boston now has 15 players under regular contracts. The Celtics only have 12 players with fully guaranteed contracts, though. According to reports, the C’s are also thinking about bringing Blake Griffin back.
Following the trades of Grant Williams and Marcus Smart, Boston may use a defensive stud.
Another roster space is available for Minnesota. In the second unit of the Timberwolves, Stevens would complement Anthony Edwards well. Troy Brown Jr. is already on staff, though.Houston’s training camp roster is complete. However, the Rockets only have 14 players under regular contracts, with only Aaron Holiday and Boban Marjanovic possessing non-fully guaranteed deals. The Rockets are currently trying to get rid of Kevin Porter Jr., who is accused of assaulting and strangling his fiancĂ©e.
21 players from Miami have also committed to going to training camp. With 12 completely guaranteed contracts, the Heat have 13 players on standard contracts. However, the Heat is in a holding pattern as they wait for the Damian Lillard deal to either go through or not.
