Sunderland teenager has signs first professional deal with the club

The young winger has signed a three-year contract that will keep him in Wearside through the summer of 2026.
Watson, who was born in Easington, originally joined the Academy of Light when he signed up for the Under-9s and has since appeared for every age group.

He scored 16 goals and had 16 assists in the Under-18 Premier League and Premier League 2 during a standout 2022–23 season.

Watson made his senior debut against Huddersfield Town in the Championship in April at the age of 17 and 10 days, taking Patrick Roberts’ place as a second-half substitute.

He also received notice on a global scale when playing for England’s Under-17 team, winning five Young Lions caps.

After recuperating from a back ailment, the winger started practicing with the first team earlier this week.

He has been a member of the team since he was a little child, and the signing of his first professional contract is evidence of the perseverance and commitment of he, his family, and the Academy personnel.

Since leaving school and joining the team full-time, Tommy has proven to be an exciting and dynamic attacking player. He has also significantly improved.

He was a member of numerous recent England U17 squads and is well-known on a global scale. We are confident that our situation and course are ideal.
