Pundit ‘delighted’ by confirmed Newcastle United news

Newcastle United’s confirmed news will be “delighted” to face a challenging Champions League group, according to pundits.Former West Ham striker Frank McAvennie said in an exclusive interview with Football Insider that he is “delighted” that the Magpies will once again host European competition at St James’ Park.

Eddie Howe’s team finished in the top four after a strong Premier League season in 2022–23, earning them a ticket in the first round of the premier European competition.

The North East powerhouses were paired with European heavyweights Paris Saint-Germain, Borussia Dortmund, and AC Milan.

McAvennie believes Howe’s team may trouble the European juggernauts in their next games.

He told Football Insider, “They have a team that is courageous.

“Eddie Howe will just play, and if they lose, they lose,’ he said. They are progressing more than I anticipated they would at this point.

“They won’t be a league title contender this year, but I didn’t even expect them to be in the Champions League yet.

The Champions League song will be playing back there, and St James’ Park will be positively hopping. The Geordies are deserving of it, and I am happy for them that they now have three major clubs.

“They might not participate this year, but they will return the following year and be more prepared.

“Of course they’ll aim to advance, but the fans will like watching these teams play at St. James’ Park. It is really large. It wouldn’t surprise me if they were successful since I believe they will try.
