Nottingham Forest target move as David de Gea confirms major Man Utd decision
David De Gea has announced his departure from Manchester United, and their goalkeeping department could be weakened still further as Nottingham Forest target a move for loan recruit Dean Henderson.
Henderson’s future remains up in the air after returning to his parent club for pre-season, but the departure of Spain international de Gea after 545 appearances and 12 years at Old Trafford certainly complicates Forest’s transfer ambitions.
United boss Erik ten Hag is set to hold talks with Henderson over his future amid claims he is keen to quit Old Trafford for more game time. United are currently without a number one and are believed to be pursuing a deal for Inter Milan’s Andre Onana.
Such a move would almost certainly aid Forest’s bid to land 26-year-old Henderson, who impressed on loan at the City Ground last season until injury cut short his stay.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano claims a deal for Onana could be sealed by the end of next week after personal terms were agreed between the two parties. And such a move could see Henderson ushered out of the door and on his way to the East Midlands.
However, he is still not fully recovered from the thigh injury he sustained in January, and he already ben ruled out of United’s pre-season tour of the United States even before de Gea announced his departure.
Taking to Twitter today, the Spaniard wrote: “I just wanted to send this farewell message to all Manchester United supporters. I would like to express my unwavering gratitude and appreciation for the love from the last 12 years.
“We’ve achieved a lot since my dear Sir Alex Ferguson brought me to this club. I took incredible pride every time I pulled on this shirt, to lead the team, to represent this institution, the biggest club in the world was an honour only bestows upon a few lucky footballers.
“It’s been an unforgettable and successful period since I came here. I didn’t think from leaving Madrid as a young boy we would achieve what we did together. Now, it’s the right time to undertake a new challenge, to push myself again in new surroundings.
“Manchester will always be in my heart, Manchester has shaped me and will never leave me. We’ve seen it all.”
