Nottingham Forest have secured the services of Republic of Ireland international Andrew Omobamidele from Norwich City.

The 21-year-old centre-back, known as one of the EFL’s brightest prospects, has signed a five-year contract, where he will play at the City Ground until the summer of 2028.

After moving from Leixlip United to Norwich City in 2019, Omobamidele quickly rose to the top of the Canaries.

The talented defender made his mark when he made his professional debut at the Sky Bet Championship in January 2021, a pivotal year for Norwich to win the title under manager Daniel Farke.

The following season, Omobamidele set foot in the Premier League, where he showed his potential in five appearances and scored his first Premier League goal against Leeds United in October 2021.

His skills didn’t go unnoticed on the international stage either. After his full international debut for the Republic of Ireland in September 2021, he went on to represent his nation on five more occasions.

Ross Wilson, Nottingham Forest’s Chief Football Officer, expressed his enthusiasm regarding the signing, stating, “Andrew has attracted considerable attention since his emergence at Norwich City, already experiencing Premier League, Championship and international football.”

Wilson further commented on Omobamidele’s potential, adding, “He is one of the most exciting young defenders in the country at this time and we are delighted to welcome him to the club.”
