In recent days, there have been many suggestions that Aston Villa’s Philippe Coutinho should move to Al-Duhail.
According to UOL, Beşiktaş has entered the fight with the Middle Eastern club to sign the 31-year-old. The transfer window in Türkiye is open until September 15, three days before the transfer window in Qatar closes.
Despite Beşiktaş’s approach, reports say Al-Duhail has reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of the attacking midfielder.
Hernán Crespo leads the Qatari team and it looks like they will sign the Brazil international on a season-long loan, with the option of a further year extension. UOL added that the South American player had traveled to Qatar to sign for Al-Duhail.
The report does not specify whether the deal includes a purchase option/obligation or a loan fee that Unai Emery’s team will receive.
Coutinho initially joined Aston Villa from Barcelona on loan in January 2022 and his stay there became permanent later that year. The former Liverpool player lost prominence after Unai Emery was appointed as Steven Gerrard’s successor at Villa Park last October.
The player who has made two appearances for Aston Villa this season will be able to enjoy more game time at Al-Duhail. Despite Beşiktaş’s approach, reports say Al-Duhail has reached an agreement with Aston Villa for the transfer of the attacking midfielder.
