Efan Ekoku offered sympathy to Nottingham Forest star Danilo during yesterday’s game. The Reds went away to Chelsea and claimed a huge 1-0 victory.
It was heartache for the Brazilian though. Danilo pulled up in some discomfort with nobody around him after he chased a loose ball that had been clipped into his path down the line.
As he lay writhing in agony on the ground Ekoku offered some sympathy. The nineties Premier League player was gutted for Danilo and hoped that it wasn’t as serious as it first seemed.
Danilo has been a big player for Forest and hopefully, the two weeks without a game will give the Reds star a chance for the next game. If not, the club do have options in midfield now, with Ibrahim Sangare signing on deadline day.
The pundit said on Premier League Productions: “I don’t like to see a player going down like that. It doesn’t look good for him; perhaps a hamstring has given way though. I hope for his sake it’s just something mild because he’s a good player and I like watching him.”
Ekoku gutted for Forest star Danilo
It’s never easy to see a player hurt on the field after going down unchallenged. Indeed, the Chelsea players were gracious when it happened and kicked the ball straight out of play.
The Reds will hope that Danilo can recover from this one quickly. Forest have made a strong start to the 2023/24 campaign and hopefully, the Brazilian won’t miss too much action.
Ekoku showed real concern for the player. During his assessment of what the injury might be, he was also keen to praise the player and clearly, he likes watching him play.
Danilo grew as a player last season. He scored some important goals for the Reds as they secured Premier League survival and hopefully, he can shake off this injury as quickly as possible.
