Honduran winger and English centre-back have joined the club in recent days with more transfer business expected before Friday’s midnight deadline.

Celtic are expected to announce the capture of Benfica man Paulo Bernardo imminently and are still eyeing up more deals.

While that work goes on in the background, the signed players are hard at work gearing up for Sunday’s big derby against Rangers.

Palma and Phillips may only just be in the door but there is already talk that both could feature at Ibrox. They’re certainly getting up to speed at Lennoxtown.

The club shared a short 90 second video from Friday training, showing the players being put through their paces by Brendan Rodgers and the rest of the coaching team.

It was encouraging to see both Palma and Phillips involved. Things have been a bit stale at first-team level in recent weeks. Perhaps some new faces will inject some life in to proceedings.

On Thursday, we told you how Hyeongyu Oh and Yuki Kobayashi had returned to the fold. Friday’s footage clearly shows academy winger Mikey Johnston back involved and that is obviously good news given his well-documented injury woes.

Johnston was ruled out for “a few more months” by Rodgers back in mid-July so he seems to be ahead of schedule. You’d doubt that he’d be in contention for a place even in the squad for Sunday but he could feature after the international break.Video: Larsson Scores As Celtic Lift The Title, On This Day

Let’s hope this is the start of us getting our big players back ahead of our UEFA Champions League campaign.
