AFC Wimbledon Secures The Twelveth Window Signing

According to the club’s official website, AFC Wimbledon made it a dozen transfers for the summer transfer window when they signed Connor Evans on deadline day from Stockport County to a season-long loan move.

Clean Dozen?
It is not really a “Dirty Dozen” because every player so far brought in has been a good fit for the Plough Lane team.

Evans began his professional career with Bristol City in the Championship, but he was unable to make the first team and instead spent time on loan at Bath City in the National League South and Torquay United as they were demoted from the National League to the Southern division of the non-league pyramid. But he did contribute to the team’s promotion back to the top level.

The midfielder eventually made it to Stockport County, where he has spent the previous two seasons, but not before enjoying a brief stint at Notts County. Additionally, he has made over 200 appearances in his career to date.

Versatility
Evans, who is now 26 years old, would want more game time at this point in his career and has signed with the intention of getting it. The completion of the transaction thrilled Johnnie Jackson.

“I’ve liked him as a player for a very long time. He was a member of the extremely successful Torquay team that included Joe Lewis and Armani Little. When Stockport signed him, he was one of the National League’s most sought-after players because he is familiar with those players. He is capable of playing all three of the front positions. Right and left wings can both function as a ten. He will inspire our imaginations at the top of the pitch.
