Championship side Norwich City are the ‘frontrunners’ to sign AFC Bournemouth attacker Jamal Lowe who is not in Andoni Iraola’s future plans, according to Sky Sports.
It was reported by Football Insider early this morning that the Jamaican forward is a transfer target for Scottish Premiership strugglers Hibernian who recently sacked manager Lee Johnson after a turbulent start to the campaign.
The former Wigan Athletic and Portsmouth star moved to the Vitality Stadium during the summer transfer window in 2021 and was an integral part of Scott Parker’s side that earned promotion from the Championship back to the Premier League.
However, Lowe’s game-time was severely limited last term, featuring merely twice in the top-flight for Bournemouth before joining Queens Park Rangers on loan in January until the end of the campaign.
New head coach Iraola has no plans to keep Lowe around and the player has been training away from the rest of the first-team squad this summer.
Sky Sports also revealed that West Bromwich Albion are weighing up a move for the 29-year-old but Norwich City are leading the pack at the moment and look likeliest to secure his signature.
The Cherries would prefer to sell Lowe on a permanent basis but understand that a loan move to Carrow Road is more probable with such little time left in the transfer window.
Josh Sargent picked up a nasty injury at the weekend during Norwich’s 4-0 thrashing of Huddersfield Town after colliding with the goalkeeper and so Lowe is seen as the ideal replacement for the United States international.

This is a good move for Lowe so late in the transfer market given that Iraola has no plans for him this season and his minutes are likely to be non-existent.
Norwich City will be up near the top of the table fighting for promotion and after Sargent’s injury blow, Lowe may play a big part for the Canaries.
