Celtic are on track to announce the signing of Luis Palma in the next days as they work on a stunning five-player signing blitz, sources have told Football Insider.
The Glasgow giants have agreed a deal with Greek club Aris FC for Palma worth £3.5million and he will sign a four-year contract
The deal has been held up while Palma waits for international clearance to travel to the UK but he is expected in Glasgow for a medical and to finalise the deal in the next 24-48 hours.
But it will be one of many late signings for Celtic as manager Brendan Rodgers looks to add to the six signings already in place
Celtic are also targeting a new goalkeeper, left-back and centre-forward, while they are now in the market for a centre-back.
Brendan Rodgers confirmed last week that injuries to Cameron Carter-Vickers, Maik Nawrocki and Stephen Welsh means the club will have to turn to the market for a replacement
Rodgers had to deploy Liam Scales, who spent last season on loan at Aberdeen, and new signing Gustaf Lagerbielke as his centre-back pairing in their 0-0 draw with St Johnstone on Saturday (26 August).
The Scottish giants’ only other option at centre-back is Yuki Kobayashi, who has struggled to make inroads to the first team, after losing Carl Starfelt to Celta Vigo earlier this summer.
In other news, Celtic open talks over signing five players in late-window blizzard.
