Joao Felix is being touted for a move to Liverpool as Atletico Madrid hope to offload him before the transfer deadline

That is according to a report from Football Transfers, who claim that Liverpool are eyeing Felix to potentially replace Mohamed Salah.

The Reds have already lost two players to Saudi Arabia this summer with Jordan Henderson and Fabinho leaving Anfield.

There could be a nasty sting in the tail too as Al Ittihad are targeting a late deal for Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah.

Sky Sports claim that Salah would at least like to hear what Al Ittihad have to offer, leaving Liverpool worried about his future.

It’s now suggested that Al Ittihad are willing to pay £100million for Salah, which may just give Liverpool something to think about given that the Egyptian is now 31.

Football Transfers also suggest that Liverpool have started identifying potential replacements with Joao Felix one of the options.

Atletico are trying to offload Felix in the coming days after club president Enrique Cerezo admitted to La Sexta that the Portugal international wants to leave.

Maybe Liverpool explore a deal but we really can’t see this one happening…

If Salah leaves – and it’s a very big if given the fast-approaching deadline – then Felix would be a strange choice to replace him.

Salah has made the right-wing spot his own at Liverpool, cutting inside to create absolute havoc on his left foot.

Felix is a completely different player and has very rarely played down the right flank in his career

The 23-year-old has mostly impressed playing off a main striker, a role which just doesn’t exist in Jurgen Klopp’s 4-3-3.

Liverpool would surely look for a more natural replacement in terms of a left-footed right winger; players like Leroy Sane, Raphinha, Rayan Cherki or even Jarrod Bowen fit the bill and have been linked before.

Signing Felix to replace Salah is putting a square peg in a round hole and we just can’t see Liverpool committing to his £250,000-a-week wages to play in an unfamiliar role.

Add in that Felix didn’t exactly shine on loan at Chelsea earlier this year and we would be stunned if Felix secures a move to Anfield this week.
