No bid yet,’ according to a journalist, Man City will now have to pay more than £60 million to sign a ‘unstoppable’wolves star player.

Wolves vs Man City: Preview | Premier League 2018/19

It has been reported that Wolves are demanding Manchester City to pay a fee in excess of £60 million to sell Matheus Nunes.

This comes from journalist Alex Crook, after it was claimed on Wednesday that Pep Guardiola’s men are keen on his signature.

But it seems like Manchester City may have to pay a king’s ransom to prise Matheus Nunes away from Wolves this summer.

Journalist: Wolves demanding £60 million+ to sell Matheus Nunes to Manchester City

Branded as ‘unstoppable’ by journalist Zach Lowy, the 24-year-old has not had the best time in the Premier League so far.

Despite having been sent off against Brighton & Hove Albion, he has kickstarted the 2023/2024 season like a man on a mission, putting in a pair of cracking displays against them as well as Manchester United.

However, Gary O’Neil’s side will only let go of the enigmatic midfielder if the treble-winners present an offer in excess of £60 million as they ideally wish to keep him.

The transfer market isn’t in the best place now and that is unrelated to Matheus Nunes

It would be natural to see Manchester City fans gawk at the asking price set by Wolves to bid farewell to Matheus Nunes.

But it is also key to understand that the transfer market is a tough place to operate currently with inflation coupled with the talent pool not being at its absolute best leading to buying clubs having to pay extortionate fees to get their man.

For what it’s worth, judging Nunes’ potential and his current attributes as a top technician, an excellent passer, a brilliant ball-carrier and a tireless worker, the fee is justifiable in some ways.

And if City do end up paying such a fee to sign the Portuguese international, that is simply how the transfer market is functioning currently and that is the way of the world in football as of now.
