September 26, 2025 | Denver, CO — The Colorado Avalanche are eyeing forward Jack Roslovic and veteran defenseman James van Riemsdyk for Professional Tryout (PTO) contracts ahead of the upcoming NHL preseason.
According to sources close to the organization, the Avalanche are exploring short-term depth options to bolster their roster, particularly in anticipation of potential injuries and cap constraints. Both Roslovic and van Riemsdyk are currently unrestricted free agents and could provide versatile, low-risk additions to Colorado’s training camp roster.
Roslovic, 28, spent last season with the Columbus Blue Jackets, where he tallied 34 points in 60 games. Known for his speed and offensive upside, the former first-round pick could compete for a bottom-six role if signed.
Van Riemsdyk, 36, brings a veteran presence with over 1,000 NHL games under his belt. Though traditionally a winger, he has been used in various special teams roles and could serve as a leadership presence both on and off the ice.
The Avalanche have not confirmed any PTO signings as of Friday, but both players are expected to receive invitations to training camp in the coming days.
