In a move that has stunned fans, financial analysts, and even his own accountant, Taiwanese pitcher Chien-Ming Wang has reportedly donated his entire $105 million signing bonus to… the Toronto Blue Jays themselves.

That’s right. Not to charity. Not to a foundation. But directly back to the franchise.

“Honestly, I just really love the team colors,” Wang said at a press conference, casually sipping a Tim Hortons coffee. “Blue is calming.”

According to reports, Wang signed a shocking multi-year deal with the Toronto Blue Jays late Tuesday night, prompting celebrations across Taiwan and downtown Toronto alike. But no one could have predicted what came next.

The Selfless Twist

Minutes after the ink dried on his contract, Wang allegedly requested that his entire bonus be “given to the Jays, or used to buy something nice—maybe a dome that opens properly.”

Team officials were stunned.

“We thought he was joking,” said Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos, who returned to the organization just for this. “Players don’t usually donate to us. It’s usually the other way around.”

How Will the Money Be Used?

Insiders say the team is planning to use the $105 million for the following:

  • Renovations to Rogers Centre including luxury dugout bean bag chairs
  • Free poutine nights for fans every Tuesday
  • A high-speed underground train that takes players directly from the bullpen to second base
  • A fully holographic José Bautista display at the front gates (he punches people on command)

Fans React

Blue Jays fans took to social media in droves, many calling Wang a “living saint,” “the real MVP,” and “Canada’s new Prime Minister.”

Even Taiwan’s President chimed in with a statement of support, saying:

“This is proof that compassion, teamwork, and random acts of $105 million generosity still exist in sports. Wang has transcended baseball—he is now a national treasure.”

MLB’s Response

Commissioner Rob Manfred issued a brief statement:

“We’re… not entirely sure if this is legal. But we’re going to allow it, because it’s frankly kind of awesome.”
