There’s excitement in the air across Aggieville as the community proudly announces that longtime band director Frank Tracz will serve as this year’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade Grand Marshal. For many in Manhattan, this recognition feels not only fitting but long overdue.
For 33 remarkable years, Tracz has been the heart and driving force behind the Kansas State Marching Band at Kansas State University. His leadership, passion, and unwavering commitment to excellence have shaped generations of students while creating unforgettable game-day memories for fans of the Kansas State Wildcats.
Under his direction, the marching band became more than a halftime spectacle — it evolved into a symbol of pride for the university and the broader Manhattan community. From electrifying football performances to community events and national showcases, Tracz’s influence extended far beyond the field.
Now, as Grand Marshal of the annual Aggieville St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Tracz will take center stage in a different but equally meaningful way. The parade, scheduled for March 21 at 1 p.m., is one of Manhattan’s most beloved traditions, drawing families, students, alumni, and visitors together for a festive afternoon of music, floats, and Irish spirit.
Organizers say selecting Tracz reflects the parade’s mission: celebrating individuals who have made lasting contributions to the local community. Few names resonate more strongly in Manhattan than his.
“Frank has given decades of energy and heart to Kansas State and this city,” a parade committee member shared. “He represents tradition, excellence, and community pride — everything this parade stands for.”
Participants from across the region are preparing colorful floats and performances, while local businesses in Aggieville are gearing up for one of the busiest and most festive weekends of the year. Community members wh
