Sheffield Wednesday has announced the departure of head coach Henrik Pedersen, citing “difficult circumstances” as the reason behind his decision to terminate his contract. The Danish coach had been at the helm of the club since July 2025, taking over from Danny Rohl.
Pedersen, known for his high-pressing style, had a challenging tenure with the Owls, winning just one game out of 33. His departure comes amidst financial turmoil and ownership issues, with the club facing a three-window transfer ban and potential administration ¹ ² ³.
In a statement, Pedersen expressed his gratitude to the players and staff, saying, “I want to thank Danny Rohl for bringing me to the club and for his guidance and support.” He added, “To the fans, thank you for your support and love for this fantastic football club.”
The club has appointed Mark Hughes as interim manager while searching for a permanent replacement.
