Broncos coach Michael Maguire breaks silence after Reece Walsh and Payne Haas linked with…

Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire has moved swiftly to calm fears surrounding star duo Reece Walsh and Payne Haas, following reports that both players are being targeted by new rugby league competition, R360, with mega-money offers.

The rumours emerged shortly after the Broncos’ historic NRL premiership win — their first in 19 years — stirring concerns among fans that the club could lose two of its most valuable players. According to reports, R360, an emerging international competition backed by major investors, is preparing to lure top NRL stars with record-breaking contracts that could dwarf current league deals.

Maguire, however, was quick to dismiss the speculation, insisting the club remains focused and united after their remarkable season. “There’s always talk after a big win, especially with players like Reece and Payne,” he told reporters. “But both boys love this club. They’ve been a massive part of our journey, and I’ve got no doubt their commitment remains with the Broncos.”

The coach also emphasized the loyalty and bond that has grown within the team over the past few years, saying that outside noise wouldn’t disrupt what the Broncos have built. “We’ve built something special here. The culture, the brotherhood — it’s real. That’s worth more than any contract,” Maguire added.

Reece Walsh, who has become one of the NRL’s brightest young stars, and Payne Haas, arguably the best prop in the competition, are both under contract for the 2026 season. While the club hasn’t released any formal statement about potential offers, insiders suggest Brisbane is prepared to review both players’ deals if necessary to ensure they remain in Queensland.

For now, Maguire and his players are turning their focus toward defending their title — and blocking out distractions from the ever-growing R360 buzz.
