A massive fire has reportedly broken out at the BlueBet Stadium, home of the Penrith Panthers, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky and prompting an immediate emergency response.
According to early reports, the blaze began late Saturday afternoon, with witnesses describing flames erupting from the western grandstand area. Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4:15 PM, with Fire and Rescue NSW crews working urgently to bring the fire under control.
Videos shared on social media show dramatic scenes of smoke billowing from the top levels of the stadium, while nearby residents were advised to stay indoors due to heavy smoke.
As of now, no injuries have been reported, and authorities are working to determine the cause of the fire. Police have cordoned off the area, and traffic diversions are in place around Mulgoa Road and Ransley Street.
A Penrith Panthers spokesperson said in a brief statement:
“Our priority is the safety of everyone in and around the stadium. We are cooperating fully with emergency services and will provide updates as soon as more information is available.”
The extent of the damage remains unclear, but early assessments suggest parts of the seating and roof structure may have been affected. The stadium, which recently hosted major NRL finals matches, is a key sporting hub in Western Sydney.
Fire investigators are expected to remain on-site overnight to assess structural safety and investigate the cause of the blaze.
