Excitement Hits Canada Life Centre as Winnipeg Jets Legend Rick Bowness Returns to His Former Team as Senior Coaching Advisor

Hockey fever has swept through downtown Winnipeg tonight as a familiar face is making a sensational return to the Winnipeg Jets organization. Former head coach and fan favourite Rick Bowness is officially coming back to his old team — this time as Senior Coaching Advisor, in a move that’s sending shockwaves through the NHL community.

The announcement, made by the Jets’ front office late Wednesday afternoon, confirmed that Bowness, 70, will rejoin the franchise to provide leadership, mentorship, and strategic support to the coaching staff for the upcoming 2025–26 season.

The news was met with roaring applause from Jets fans gathered outside Canada Life Centre, many waving jerseys and signs reading “Welcome Back, Bones!” Social media lit up within minutes of the reveal, with hashtags like #RickReturns and #GoJetsGo trending across Canada.

Jets General Manager Kevin Cheveldayoff expressed his excitement about the reunion, calling Bowness’s return “a homecoming for one of the game’s great leaders.”
