It is no secret that David Moyes has been keen to improve that back-line this summer and add a defender to his squad – and there was alot of talk that Harry Maguire was top of the list.

However, despite all the speculation, despite all the rumours and despite the fact that he is no longer in the plans of Erik Ten Hag – Maguire has made the decision to stay put and snub a move to London Stadium.

West Ham have moved on quickly from that disappointment and have swiftly secured the signature of Stuttgart centre-back Mavropanos

The centre-back – known to his family, friends and teammates as ‘Dinos’ – arrives at London Stadium from German Bundesliga club VfB Stuttgart on a five-year contract for an undisclosed fee

“I am really happy and excited to be here – and to be back in the Premier League with West Ham United,” said the new No15

“It’s an exciting time to be joining the Club after last season’s Conference League win – and I am really looking forward to the next step in my career. I can promise the fans I will give everything for them and the shirt

Mavropanos is not the flop of a player that once failed to shine at Arsenal and has made a real name for himself in the Bundesliga and Stuttgart.

He will be a very solid addition to that Hammers side and he will be a welcomed addition to the squad – great bit of business by WEST HAM now that the deal is announced.

It has been a good start to the new season by the Hammers and the signings that they have made are very impressive too.
