Nottingham Forest are closing in on the signing of Bologna midfielder Nicolas Dominguez, according to reports. The Reds are hoping to land the player in the coming days.
According to Argentine journalist Cesar Luis Merlo, the deal is drawing to a close. Forest are keen to tie a deal for the player up as they bid to bolster their midfield ranks.
The player has been with the Serie A outfit for three years and he will be out of contract in the summer of 2024. Clearly, the Italian outfit are keen to offload him before they run the risk of losing him for free.
Forest have been linked with a number of players in the middle of the park this summer. Florentino Luis is one of those and Squawka shows that last season, Dominguez won more duels across the course of the season. The 25-year-old has been a mainstay in the team during his time at Bologna. He’s played 110 times for the Italian outfit, scoring five goals and registering six assists.
Dominguez would be a welcome addition to the Forest ranks. He’s spent his entire career playing as a central midfielder and Steve Cooper has been courting several players all summer.
Forest close to signing Dominguez but reports are contrasting
There is a little caveat with this potential deal. Football Italia claims that Bologna want to offer him a contract extension to protect his valuation and a decision will be made in the coming days.
Dominguez has played 11 times for Argentina. If he does sign this summer, he could join Gonzalo Montiel who looks set to pen terms with Forest tomorrow after a medical.
