NEWCASTLE OFFER £72.5M FOR ACE WHO WANTED TO JOIN CRYSTAL PALACE LAST YEAR………..

Newcastle United are happy to pay £12.5 million for Victor Nelsson but Turkish giants Galatasaray want closer to £17 million from the Premier League outfit, as reported by Takvim.

On the final day of the January transfer window, a nouveau-riche Newcastle side finally did what they had failed to do for almost four years. They signed a centre-back.

And Dan Burn, the club’s first new defender since Federico Fernandez arrived from Swansea City in 2018, has made quite the impression at the heart of Eddie Howe’s much-improved backline, even if some have questioned his role in Alex Iwobi’s 99th minute winner away at Everton on Thursday night.

It seems unlikely that Newcastle supporters will have to wait four more years for another centre-half.

Defensive reinforcements are high on Howe’s hitlist heading into the summer transfer window. But with Sven Botman favouring a move to Serie A leaders AC Milan – and with Sevilla standing firm on Diego Carlos – it seems Newcastle will have to think outside the box.

23-year-old Nelson, a twice-capped Denmark international who joined Galatasaray from Copenhagen in August 2021, certainly feels more ‘attainable’ than the likes of Botman and Carlos.

According to Takvim, Newcastle have failed with an opening offer in the region of £12.5 million.

But Galatasaray, the crisis-hit fallen giants sitting 15th in a 20-team Turkish Super Lig, would consider bids in the region of £17 million.

He reportedly had his heart set on Crystal Palace less than 12 months ago, when Patrick Vieira’s side were going head-to-head with Galatasaray and a number of Bundesliga clubs.

Newcastle have also reportedly held talks with Fiorentina’s 6ft 5ins colossus Nikola Milenkovic. They are also looking to reinforce their frontline with Ligue 1 magician Moses Simon.

The Magpies are in talks to sign Atletico Mineiro starlet Daniel Carlos too, according to the Brazilian’s agent.
