Coventry City news from CoventryLive as the Sky Blues prepare for a trip to Wales to face Swansea City in the Championship
Coventry City must be wary of a Swansea City backlash when the two sides meet in the Championship this weekend.
The Sky Blues travel to Wales to take on the Swans at the Swansea.com Stadium on Saturday (3pm kick-off). Mark Robins’ side go into the game on the back of their first win of the season – a 3-0 triumph over Middlesbrough at the CBS Arena last weekend
Swansea, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from a frustrating 3-2 defeat at West Bromwich Albion last time out. The Baggies raced into a three-goal lead at the Hawthorns before a late fightback from the visitors – with goals from Harry Darling and Nathan Wood – ultimately proved in vain.
Michael Duff’s side had kicked off their campaign with a 1-1 draw at home to Birmingham City, before seeing off Northampton Town 3-0 in the first round of the Carabao Cup. So, they are still searching for a first league victory of 2023/24.
Against West Brom, Swansea were left to rue costly errors, after failure to deal with long throws in their penalty area resulted in two goals for the hosts. Swans midfielder Jay Fulton admitted: “There is plenty to work on, and we’ve got a full week on the training ground to look to put right the mistakes that have cost us.
“We have been unbeaten at home so far this season, although I know it is early days, but it’s something we want to keep up. We will be looking to bounce back against Coventry and make sure we cut those mistakes out.”
Swansea looked a threat themselves from set pieces at the other end of the pitch, and Fulton believes the team can take heart from the way they finished the game against Albion. “It (attacking set pieces) is something we have really put a lot of work into, and getting the two goals at the weekend will give us confidence with it moving forward,” he told the club’s official website.
