Liverpool could reportedly return for Kheprhen Thuram, with the Reds eyeing former midfield targets having missed out on Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia.
According to journalist Neil Jones, there’s a chance that the French international could return to Liverpool’s agenda as the Anfield side continue to look for a third midfield signing this summer.
Jones said: “Could they go back in for Thuram? It’s possible given the fact they like the player, he should be available and that Liverpool would have done a lot of groundwork with the player.
Labelled by GFFN as ‘one of the best in Europe’ in terms of ball progression, Thuram could prove to be an excellent signing for Liverpool even if the 22-year-old is not considered a full-blown defensive midfielder.
With a £60m price tag, there is potential for a deal to be done if Liverpool can soon open talks for Thuram, with the groundwork already being put in place over a possible transfer
Indeed, with Thuram already on Liverpool’s mind this summer, moving for the Nice star just makes sense for the Reds, w
ho are running out of time to sign a midfielder this window.
Having been well and truly embarrassed by Chelsea for Caicedo and Lavia, Liverpool need a backup plan in the coming days, and Thuram can be a dream answer.
Whilst the midfielder is older than both Caicedo and Lavia, Thuram’s quality and potential is enough to convince most at Liverpool that he could be worth the punt for next season.
Moreover, under a coach like Jurgen Klopp, Thuram has the ability to become a midfield sensation for Liverpool, who need that physical presence in the position going into the new season.
