Huddersfield Town’s next opponents Middlesbrough complete double transfer swoop…..
Huddersfield Town’s next opponents Middlesbrough have today completed the double signing of Lukas Engel and Emmanuel Latte Lath. Left-back Engel and striker Latte Lath have joined Boro from Danish Superliga side Silkeborg and Atalanta respectively.
Engel, 24, has played for just three professional clubs in Fremad Amager, Vejle and Silkeborg while Ivory Coast-born forward Latte Lath has spent time on loan with eight sides including SPAL, Pescara, Imolese and Aurora Pro Patria. Latte Lath, a graduate of Atalanta’s youth system, spent time on loan at Swiss outfit St Gallen last season. He bagged 16 goals in 34 matches.
Head coach Michael Carrick told the club website: “Lukas is a good age. He’s already gained experience to a point and looking to make the next step in his career.
“Emmanuel’s a similar age to Lukas and he also plenty of experience from playing in Italy and Switzerland. He’s exciting, quick, looks very sharp and can make things happen.”
Engel will compete with Hayden Coulson for a starting berth on the left hand side. It is an area where Boro have been light on numbers since Ryan Giles left following his successful loan spell last term.
“He [Lukas] is desperate to do well and you can tell he’s very happy to be here,” said Carrick. “I’m looking forward to working with him.”
There is a strong possibility Engel and Latte Lath will feature for Boro when the Terriers visit the Riverside on Saturday. The two clubs have already played each other this term, with Middlesbrough edging an entertaining Carabao Cup tie 3-2 last week.
