Latest Leicester City transfer news and gossip as Kristiansen left out of matchday squad for Championship clash at Huddersfield
Leicester City have started ‘negotiations’ with Serie A side Bologna over a possible transfer for full-back Victor Kristiansen, according to reports.
The full-back only joined City in January. He made a total 12 Premier League appearances last season, but was unable to help save the club from relegation.
Injury kept him out of the Championship opener against Coventry last weekend, when City won 2-1. The League Cup clash against Burton Albion three days later may have also come too early for him.
But despite being declared fit for Saturday’s 1-0 win at Huddersfield, Kristiansen was again left out. It comes as reports last week linked the full-back with a move to Italy with Lazio said to be showing an interest.
However, it seems Bologna have now made the first move. Gianluca Di Marzio claims the Italian club have made contact with City and ‘negotiations have begun’.It’s not mentioned if any potential deal would see the defender leave on loan or permanently. City are said to have paid a fee of €15 million, rising to €20 million to Copenhagen in January, so may look for a similar fee just six months on.
Speaking about players’ omission from the matchday squad at Huddersfield, Enzo Maresca said transfer speculation was part of the reason behind their exclusion. “The players that were not in the squad today, it was because of a technical decision for some of them, and for some of them, I thought it was better for them to stay at home,” he said .
“But that doesn’t mean that in the next game they won’t be involved. It was just for today.”
