Botafogo striker Matheus Nascimento is back on the radar of Nottingham Forest. The player was linked with Crystal Palace recently but Forest are leading the race.
The Sun claims that Forest are firmly in the mix to land the player this summer. Steve Cooper would dearly like to sign a new striker with Taiwo Awoniyi his only option at present.
Nascimento has been on the radar with Forest for some time. The Reds fancy the player who has propelled Botafogo into title contention this season.
He’s valued at around £15 million and it was claimed last week that the player had been spotted with Crystal Palace officials.
Now, Forest are seemingly still leading the chase to sign the striker. Awoniyi did score against Arsenal yesterday but if he gets injured, there is little in reserve.
The Reds are keen to take a chance on Nascimento this summer. It will be intriguing to see how he does get on with the 19-year-old only recently breaking into men’s football.
Forest are keen to take a chance on the player who is being deemed as a wonderkid. He will surely make the move to Europe at some point and the Reds are keen to sign him now.
Forest leading the race for Nascimento
This would be a sensible piece of business by the Reds. Given that the squad is light in the attack right now, the player would surely get plenty of game time.
The Reds have to get some new signings in place sooner rather than later. The clock is ticking on the transfer window and Forest won’t want to get left behind.
Nascimento looks like a very bright prospect. He’s fancied as a future star and the Reds could tie down a burgeoning talent that they’ll almost certainly be able to make profit on.
Awoniyi will naturally be the first-choice striker at the City Ground this season. However, he needs some competition and Nascimento might just be the ideal recruit.
