Crystal Palace have reportedly made a £21.5 million bid for Torino defender Perr Schuurs as the former Ajax man weighs up whether to swap Serie A for the Premier League this summer. 

And before you write off Crystal Palace’s chances – pointing out that some of the biggest clubs in Europe have also been linked with the ex-Netherlands U21 international recently – Perr Schuurs is not the sort of player to simply choose the most glamorous opportunity available to him.

Schuurs, according to his agent, had offers on the table from Liverpool,   and Paris Saint-Germain. He chose Torino back in 2022 instead due to the prospect of regular first team football in Italy.

Crystal Palace would arguably now represent the natural next step.

23-year-old Schuurs, meanwhile, would fit in nicely in a young, technically-gifted dressing room.
