The Italian journalist tweeted on 13 August that Villa’s offer for the Italy international has been on the table for two days and that they are still waiting for the green light from the Turkish club.

Romano revealed on 11 August that the Villans had offered a £2.6million loan fee that included the opportunity to sign the 24-year-old for £23.3million.

The need for an attacking midfielder was highlighted in the club’s heavy defeat to Newcastle United on Saturday (12 August), with Unai Emery’s side lacking in the middle of the park.Roma's Nicolo Zaniolo completes €16.5m Galatasaray transfer after Jose Mourinho's public criticism | Goal.com Nigeria
