Napoli and Juventus want to sign Wilfried Gnonto on loan after learning of Leeds United’s £30 million asking price.

That is according to 90min.com, who report the two Serie A clubs have both shown an interest in bringing Gnonto back to Italy this summer, but Leeds’ valuation has put them off.

Instead, they may now look to strike a season-long-loan deal that includes an option-to-buy, with Gianluca Di Marzio having reported earlier this week that a late window temporary switch could be on the cards.

At this stage, though, Everton remain the most likely destination and are continuing to push for a deal amid reports Gnonto wants a move to Goodison Park.

As per Fabrizio Romano, Gnonto has already agreed the terms of a five-year-deal with Everton, which is why he asked to be left out of the squad against Shrewsbury Town on Wednesday, as well as today’s trip to Birmingham City.

The Toffees saw an offer of £15 million rejected last month but had seemingly cooled their interest until Gnonto made his position clear on a potential move.

However, Everton are also unsure on the £30 million asking price Leeds have set and as per 90min.com, want to try and strike an agreement so the bulk of the fee is paid in instalments.

Ultimately, neither of these two proposals that are being discussed will suit Leeds as they need the money here and now so it can be reinvested back into the squad.

Despite Gnonto’s wishes, Leeds are not in a position where they have to sell with no relegation release in his contract that still has four years left to run.

San Francisco 49ers Enterprises have made it clear throughout the window they want to keep him, and if clubs really are so intent on signing him, £30 million is what they will have to pay.

Given how he played in the Premier League – which saw Gary Neville hail him as ‘absolutely fantastic’ on Sky Sports – it is undoubtedly a fair price.
