Leeds United’s hopes of keeping Illan Meslier have been handed a boost with Real Madrid now set to sign Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea.

That is according to Sky in Germany reporter Florian Plettenberg, who reports Kepa has turned down a move to Bayern in favour of a move back to Spain.

Real Madrid have been forced to enter the market for a new goalkeeper this summer after the crushing news of Thibaut Courtois’ long-term injury.

Courtois tore his anterior cruciate ligament in training earlier this week and now could be out for the next nine months, leaving Madrid light on number between the sticks.

As per SPORT, Leeds’ Meslier is among the names to have been linked with a move to the Spanish capital, featuring on a second shortlist of targets of more younger options.

However, it appears as though Madrid’s interest in Meslier will be short-lived as a deal to sign Kepa moves closer.

Following relegation from the Premier League, Meslier has been widely tipped to leave Leeds this summer in order to hand him a fresh start.
