The Daily Mail claim Chelsea pulled the plug on a move for Leeds United midfielder and USA captain Tyler Adams as a medical showed his hamstring injury could see him miss another four months – prompting Chelsea to back away.
Adams, 24, has been sidelined since picking up the initial hamstring injury in training back in March. In the next few weeks after that injury, Adams had surgery on the issue – but he has failed to play since. Even, return to the grass.
Reports emerged this week that a move to Chelsea was close. A medical had even been done, after the £20m exit clause in Adams’ contract had been activated. But, Chelsea have pulled the plug and Adams returns to Elland Road.
The Mail claim that scans during his Chelsea medical showed that Adams could actually miss the next four months of football – and that has urged the Blues to scupper a move. It might see Adams fail to find a new club this month.

A massive blow for all parties concerned. Adams, because he simply can’t play football and that he cannot find a new club – if that is the case. No buying party will want to spend £20m on a player, that is injured until next year.
For Leeds, it is a blow too. At this point, bringing in some cash to ease Financial Fairplay and strengthen positions that require strengthening is key. A fee of £20m would have allowed Leeds to reinvest. Instead, Adams is staying.
For Chelsea, and for potentially any other interested parties – such as Brighton or Aston Villa – they miss out on signing a player like Adams. A player that Leeds fans love. It looks as if, if this report is true, that he is set to stay.
