Burnley are close to finalising £14m deal for Aston Villa youngster Aaron Ramsey, as they turn attention away from free agent Andros Townsend
Burnley are finalising a £14m deal to sign Aston Villa youngster Aaron Ramsey.
The Clarets have already made a number of signings this summer ahead of their return campaign in the Premier League and are looking to make Ramsey their next recruit.
Vincent Kompany’s side have agreed a deal to sign the Villa star as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer.
They had been exploring an option to sign Andros Townsend on a free after the winger left Everton in June, but have opted against a deal.
Ramsey, meanwhile, spent last season on loan at Norwich and then Middlesbrough – where he managed to catch the eye with stunning performances.

The 20-year-old recorded three goals and three assists while with the Canaries and then five goals and one assists with Boro.
Burnley have already brought in 10 new names ahead of their return to the top-flight, including the likes of James Trafford, Zeki Amdouni and Sander Berge.
Speaking exclusively to Mail Sport, Burnley boss Vincent Kompany recently revealed his concerns when it comes to bringing in new faces to the club.
‘Recruitment is actually so complex,’ he explained. ‘I think the most nervous moment in the season for me is not getting to a game and having to play, it’s bringing someone new into the building. Someone you don’t know. Seeing how he’s going to settle in’, the Burnley boss said.
‘Obviously this moment in time, it’s important for us to try and get to the next level. It’s part of what we have to do to get better. But, the only way to know someone is to try and collect as much information as we can. Even then, there is always a trade off.
‘You know, you have a good guy but he’s not fast. You’ve got a guy who is super fast but he’s a bit of a nightmare. So, it never comes as a perfect package.
‘But, what you are looking for is someone who is coachable for sure. That’s willing to improve. Especially being Burnley, if a players not perfect we can go the journey with him and make him better.’
