Daniel Farke believes ‘major boost’ is close as he gives double Leeds United injury update
Leeds United will be looking to earn their first league win of the season at Birmingham City and Daniel Farke has given an update on Sam Greenwood and Georginio Rutter
Leeds United head coach Daniel Farke has given a positive injury update on both Sam Greenwood and record signing Georginio Rutter. The Whites will look to secure their first league win of the season when they travel to face Birmingham City on Saturday.
Greenwood is not expected to be in contention for selection until after the first international break, and has ‘no chance’ of featuring at St Andrews. However, the 21-year-old has joined in with parts of training with the squad alongside Rutter, who could be included in the matchday squad.
When asked if the Whites would welcome any players back from injury or any new signings on Saturday, Farke told reporters: “We will see. In terms of new faces, we will speak about it when it’s done and all agreed. At least some good and positive news with Greenwood and also with Rutter.
“They joined in today for the first time this week and also in parts of team training. Obviously for Sam, he was out for four weeks and has no chance to be involved for the game at the weekend.

“But Georgie just missed one and a half weeks, let’s see how it develops over the next 48 hours but the signs are quite good. It could be that he is available, perhaps not for 90 minutes but he could be an option to travel with us.
“If this is possible, it would definitely be a major boost for our quality players up front. I’m looking forward to having Georgie available as quickly as possible, and there’s a chance for the weekend
