In a rare and heartfelt moment, Parramatta Eels playmaker Mitchell Moses has opened up about the first time he met his partner, Bri Gardoni, revealing how their unexpected connection transformed his outlook on life both on and off the field.
Speaking candidly, Moses admitted that when he first met Gardoni, she wasn’t at all what he had pictured.
“When I first met Bri, I’ll admit — she wasn’t what I had imagined. My head was completely wrapped up in footy. I wasn’t looking for anything else,” Moses shared.
But everything changed the moment he got to know her.
“Bri was different,” he continued. “She had this spark about her. Confident, energetic, and not afraid to speak her mind. At first, I wasn’t sure how to take that — but she stuck with me. She had this realness that you just don’t see every day.”
The Eels star went on to reflect on how Gardoni’s influence helped him find balance away from the pressure of the NRL spotlight.
“She challenged me and made me see life beyond the game,” Moses said. “Meeting her was like one of those unexpected tackles — it knocks the wind out of you, but it changes the game completely.”
The couple, who have been together for several years and share a daughter, have become fan favourites among Eels supporters, admired for their genuine bond and family-first approach.
As Moses continues to lead Parramatta into another season, it’s clear that Gardoni remains his biggest supporter — both on the sidelines and in life.
