With Benfica and Wolverhampton Wanderers still to make Gonçalo Guedes’ new loan official, the Portuguese media continues to bring news about the situation.

The player is recovering from a knee injury in Portugal, but according to newspaper Record, he travelled to England on Sunday.

It’s claimed that he’ll be sorting out ‘personal subjects’ and it’s not made clear when he’ll be back in Lisbon.

Record point out that his recovery at Benfica has full authorisation from Wolves, as the clubs already have an agreement for his new loan.uedes had moved to the Portuguese club in January, but due to his knee injury, he missed a chunk of games, only making 15 appearances in this time.

Since his last surgery, Benfica convinced Wolves that the best solution would be for a new loan, especially because the player wouldn’t attract many interested clubs in this situation.

It’s been a while since the Portuguese media reported that the clubs have this new deal, and it’s unclear why they haven’t announced it yet.

Perhaps his trip to England has something to do with the final details.

Lopetegui, targets, likely line up – Your Wolves questions answered

Wolves kick off their Premier League season on Monday when they are at Manchester United for what is, to say the least, a tough opener. Our Wolves reporter Mike Baggaley looks forward to that game and examines issues on and off the pitch as he answers questions from supporters and fellow reporter Matt Davies.

Rennes are a good side so can Wolves take some positives from their performance and 3-1 win on Saturday? “The caveat at this stage of the year is it is ‘only’ a pre season friendly so you have to be careful with conclusions. But I came out of the Rennes game and last Wednesday’s match against Luton more optimistic about Wolves’ prospects this seaso

“It has been a gloomy couple of months for Wolves with talk about them not signing players and FFP restraints. So, it was nice to focus on the football and I thought Wolves played well in both games.

“They struggled for goals last season but in these friendlies played some entertaining, attacking football, albeit they couldn’t convert those chances against Luton. I appreciate Manchester United away is a completely different challenge than these games but there was a lot of encouragement to be had from these matches.”

How are you feeling about the season ahead? A lot of people seem to be tipping Wolves to go down, perhaps because of the lack of signings. “I can understand why people are tipping Wolves to struggle because they have only signed two free transfers so far, albeit Matt Doherty could go straight into the first team. They have sold players worth £90m, including the captain Ruben Neves and there has been a lot of talk of financial restraints.

“You could also argue that Wolves overachieved in finishing 13th last season, having been bottom in November. In fact Julen Lopetegui called that a ‘little miracle’.
