Tottenham remain interested in Brennan Johnson and could offer three players to Nottingham Forest as part of the deal
According to Matt Law for The Telegraph (subscription required), Tottenham Hotspur remain interested in signing Nottingham Forest forward Brennan Johnson during this summer transfer window.
It is also revealed that Spurs could offer up to three players to Forest to make this deal happen. The players in question here are Djed Spence, Joe Rodon and Bryan Gil. If things speed up in this direction, we might see a players-plus-cash negotiation.
This update is to follow up a report from Daily Mail almost a week ago where it was mentioned that Tottenham are considering a move for Johnson if Harry Kane is sold to Bayern Munich. The Forest star being a homegrown player helps too.
But, reading the report from Law, Spurs have rejected the latest offer from the German champions for Kane. So, is the club looking to sign Johnson regardless of what happens with Kane in the coming days, or are they guarding against the fact that Bayern will eventually meet the asking price for the England captain?
Both possibilities can be true. Tottenham boss Ange Postecoglou admitted after the friendly win over Shakhtar Donetsk that the squad is “too big” at the moment and departures are to be expected.
If signing Johnson means the club is able to bolster the forward line and let go of three players simultaneously, that would be some business.

The Welsh international, 22, had an excellent first season in the Premier League with Forest by scoring eight goals and assisting three. He is a versatile player who can play anywhere across the forward line and attacking midfield. We witnessed that flexibility a lot last season.
