Nottingham Forest have seen another bid rejected for Braga goalkeeper Matheus. The Reds are keen to add a stopper to their ranks ahead of the new season which gets underway on Saturday.

According to Record, Forest have tried once again to land the 31-year-old. The Portuguese club have been left unimpressed, however, with the £8 million bid rejected.

Forest were keen to thrash out a bit of a staggered deal for Matheus. It’s been claimed that they offered £5 million up front, with the other £3 million coming in the way of performance-related bonuses.

The Brazilian stopper has been with Braga since 2014. He signed from America-MG in his homeland and he’s made 293 appearances for the Portuguese outfit.

Forest have been trying desperately to sign a goalkeeper all summer. Dean Henderson is the top target, with Matt Turner from Arsenal also on their radar.

Forest have bid rejected for Matheus

The Reds need to get a goalkeeper sorted before Saturday. Arsenal will provide formidable opposition and they need to get an established custodian sorted.

Forest target Matheus is a respected goalkeeper and he has bags of experience. He’s never played in a top European league, however, and at 31-years-old perhaps those aspirations are dwindling.Matheus (footballer, born March 1992) - Wikipedia

Forest have to get moving when it comes to a new stopper. They can’t head to North London with George Shelvey as the number one goalkeeper and hopefully this week can be a busy one.
