West Ham United have made a move for Bournemouth striker Dominic Solanke in the hope of boosting David Moyes’ attacking options.
Dominic Solanke has been targeted by West Ham United but Bournemouth have no interest in selling.
That is according to the Sunday Mirror (06/08, p69), who claim that West Ham have made a first move for Solanke by asking about a deal.
It’s stated that West Ham would like to bring in Solanke as a replacement for Gianluca Scamacca.
The Italian is heading back to his homeland with Atalanta on the verge of securing his signature.
However, West Ham’s attempts to bring in Solanke as a replacement don’t appear to be going anywhere.
Bournemouth are keen to keep hold of Solanke and have no plans to let him join West Ham this summer.
Moyes will now have lo look elsewhere for a new striker in what is becoming a rather frustrating summer window for West Ham.
Bournemouth won’t let Dominic Solanke go
Solanke became something of a joke at one point.
The former Chelsea talent joined Liverpool in 2017 before being sold to Bournemouth for a hefty £19million fee in January 2019.
Solanke had only scored once in 27 games for Liverpool and then just four times in 46 Bournemouth games.
Solanke was mocked and ridiculed but has kicked on in recent years.
45 goals in two Championship campaigns saw Solanke find his feet in front of goal and he managed six Premier League goals last season.
The 25-year-old has been hailed as ‘incredible’ by Scott Parker for his goals, all-round game and work ethic in the Bournemouth attack.
Solanke has clearly become a better player than when he first arrived at Bournemouth and West Ham found him to be an attractive option.
The Cherries have no plans to sell though and West Ham may well give up on this pursuit already.
