BURNLEY: PL side now want ‘exceptional’ Leeds star after missing out on £10m former Whites player.
Burnley are considering a move for Crysensio Summerville after failing in their bid to sign former Leeds United winger Jack Clarke this summer.
That is according to a report from the Sunday Mirror (6/8; page 69), which notes that the Whites are braced for interest in the Dutchman in the latter stages of the window
Crysencio Summerville was one of the shining lights of last year’s miserable campaign. The 21-year-old scored four goals in four games before the World Cup. And there were a number of games where the winger looked, by far, Leeds’ most dangerous player.
Burnley eyeing Summerville after missing out on Clarke
Unsurprisingly therefore, the wide-man is attracting attention. And the Sunday Mirror (6/8; page 69) reports that Burnley are weighing up a bid for Summerville.
Vincent Kompany’s side have made a big push to sign Jack Clarke from Sunderland in this window. The Northern Echo noted Burnley had most recently made a bid worth an initial £10 million for the former Leeds man. However, the Black Cats are not letting him go.
And with that, the newly-promoted side are now eyeing a potential move for Summerville.
It would be a big blow for Leeds to lose Summerville – particularly at a time when Daniel Farke’s attacking options have been decimated by injury.
He can play in a number of roles across the forward line. And he has the talent to take the second tier by storm this season – if he stays.
Much may depend on what Burnley are prepared to pay for Summerville. It would be disappointing if Leeds did not at least hold out for a substantial fee before entering into negotiations.
He is an ‘exceptional’ player. And Leeds’ promotion hopes will be boosted considerably if he remains beyond the deadline.
But Leeds fans know very well that Max Wober is unlikely to be the last significant departure from Elland Road in this window.
